⚠️ Important: The referral code must be applied during account creation.
Wealthsimple does not allow referral codes to be added after your account is created. If you complete signup without a code, the bonus cannot be retroactively applied.
Method 1: Use the Referral Link (Easiest)
The simplest way to apply the referral code is to use the referral link directly. It pre-fills the code automatically so you don't need to type it.
Method 2: Enter the Code Manually
If you prefer to navigate to Wealthsimple directly, follow these steps to manually enter the referral code:

Get the referral link or code
Use the referral link https://www.wealthsimple.com/invite/XVJHLJ — this pre-fills the code automatically. Or note the code XVJHLJ to enter manually.

Click 'Get started' or 'Open an account'
Navigate to wealthsimple.com and click the sign-up button, or use the referral link which takes you directly to the registration flow.

Enter your email and create a password
Complete the first step of account creation with your email address and a secure password.

Look for the 'Referral code' or 'Invite code' field
During signup, Wealthsimple shows a field for a referral or invite code. If you used the referral link, it may already be pre-filled with XVJHLJ. If not, enter it manually.

Enter code XVJHLJ
Type XVJHLJ exactly (uppercase, no spaces). Click 'Apply' or continue to the next step.

Complete identity verification (KYC)
Upload or photograph your government-issued ID (driver's licence or passport). Wealthsimple will verify your identity — this usually takes a few minutes.

Choose your account type and fund it
Select Personal Investing, TFSA, or RRSP. Connect your bank account and deposit at least $100 to activate the referral bonus.

Wait for your bonus
Your $25 CAD bonus will appear in your Wealthsimple account within 5–7 business days after your deposit clears.
Troubleshooting: Referral Code Not Working
Problem: The referral code field doesn't appear
Solution: Try using the direct referral link instead of navigating to wealthsimple.com manually. The link triggers the referral flow. If it still doesn't appear, try a different browser or clear your browser cache.
Problem: Code shows "invalid" or "not recognized"
Solution: Ensure you're entering XVJHLJ in all uppercase with no spaces. If copying from a message, delete any invisible characters by typing the code manually.
Problem: You already have a Wealthsimple account
Solution: Existing users — including those with closed accounts — are not eligible for the new-user referral bonus. The code will not apply.
Problem: You forgot to enter the code during signup
Solution: Contact Wealthsimple support at support.wealthsimple.com immediately after account creation. While they typically cannot retroactively apply codes, it's worth asking, especially if it was a technical issue.
